Despite the fact that you’ve a strong 3G/4G connection in your location and your device support 3G/4G connection but you’re constantly on 2G connection which can be annoying.

There is a way you can permanently force the 3G (WCDMA) or 4G LTE only on your smartphone. But if you’re in a location that does not support 3G or 4G, You may not have network  coverage.

Below are the two codes that will work Magic but not all phones are supported

  1. *#*#4636#*#*
  2. *#*#2846579#*#*

The first code worked perfectly on my iTel P51

How to use the first option

Firstly, Dial *#*#4636#*#* using your dialer and it will show the menu as seen below;

Secondly, Now Click on Phone information (Note, If your phone supports dual sim, phone information 1 is for sim 1 while phone information 2 is for sim 2).

Thirdly, Scroll down until you see a drop menu where you can choose WCDMA only or LTE only
Once you select your option, Go back and you are on the go.

How to use option 2

Firstly, Dial *#*#2846579#*#* using your dialer and a menu will be presented. Then Select ProjectMenu.

Secondly, Select Network setting >> Network Mode.

Thirdly, Select 3G only or otherwise.

If the above method doesn’t work for you, You can try downloading a app that allow you dial the right code for you phone model and then completes the 3G/4G only data mode.

The app can be downloaded a Google playstore, See link below

Install and complete the onscreen prompt.

  1. I have just tried this and really works!! This will change the way I’m traveling to other countries because a lot of times my phone forces to lower the signal, thanks!

  2. Do those codes work universally on all smart phones or are they sensitive to the type of smartphone you are using? Whether a windows phone, an Android or an iPhone, do they all work the same? I will at least check it out and see how it works on my phone.
